BOOTH HANSEN WALKING TOUR
Print + Animation
To increase company knowledge of the firm’s 40-year history, Booth Hansen hosts quarterly walking tours of past projects. A handful of important projects, within walking distance of each other, were selected. The entire office was then invited to spend a few hours following the map, listening to project leaders discuss the project details.
The map was initially built using QGIS and OpenStreetMap, then brought into Illustrator. I simplified the linework so that the walking path would be the highlight of the image. Locations were plotted and the most direct route was mapped. Finally, thumbnails of each project were added, along with statistical highlights.
In addition to the printed map, an animation was created for sharing on social media. During the tour, photos and video were shared to Instagram Stories, and saved for the highlight reel. This format is now followed for each walking tour the company does.
